Sometimes the free market delivers some bad ideas

OK, I’m not saying every free market idea is a great idea, but what the hell. If there is demand, then so be it.

Three British Holiday Inns have introduced a new service for ensuring guests get the perfect night’s sleep: human bed-warmers.

On request, staff members will get under the covers wearing a fleece body covering and stay there until the bed reaches the optimal temperature of 20-24 degrees Celcius, Reuters reports.

“The new Holiday Inn bed warmers service is a bit like having a giant hot water bottle in your bed,” a Holiday Inn spokeswoman said.

Who are you to determine what a good and bad idea is? That’s a typical response of a central planner you know – determining what’s worth investing in and what’s not. Have you crossed to the dark side?

Human bed-warmers are not for you or me, but as long as someone’s buying them and the seller is making a profit, like you say – more power to them. Free market at its finest.

just thought about it – my wife would like this. She’s always complaining during the winter that the bed is cold. I wonder if they do house calls? :)

Now you are going to start trouble. I can see some cheating spouse claiming that they just had their bed warmer over. There was nothing really going on.

John, you know I would never try to stop the free market. I said if there is deman so be it. You are right, and I would never say something should be stopped. Doesn’t sound like it’s impeding anyone else’s liberty, so I’m all for it.
